Exactly what size are the stow pouches?
The oversized stow pouches for the Big and Regular Joey are meant to carry multiple bags. The Big Joey’s pouch (9.5″x 5″) can carry itself and two additional bags, while the Regular Joey’s pouch (8″x 4″) can carry itself and another bag. The pouches will fit in almost any size purse. If you forget your purse then you forgot your bags. Of course, that would be okay since you won’t be able to buy anything anyway.

The Big Joey is 18″x 25″x 5″ and can comfortably carry 4 shoeboxes while the Regular Joey is 14″x 21″x 4″ and fits 2 shoeboxes so you can carry both large and small loads. In addition, the handles are not positioned like other ‘t-shirt’ bags. Our handles are positioned for you to carry the bags along your side like a purse. The Big Joey is designed to go over your shoulder and fit nicely under your arm, while the Regular Joey can be carried at your side and won’t drag on the ground. Why is having a reusable bag responsible? Can’t we just recycle paper and plastic bags?
There is a reason the mantra ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ is in this order. Concentrating on reducing and reusing items should come first before resorting to recycling. Once the item is no longer useful, it should be recycled. However, the numbers for recycling paper and plastic bags do not add up to an appealing solution. Less than 4% of all plastic bags are recycled and the energy used to recycle paper outweighs much of the benefit versus virgin wood fibers. Both use valuable resources for a ‘disposable’ product which contributes to energy consumption and pollutes our environment.

Why are Joey Totes made of ripstop Nylon?
We spent a lot of time researching fabrics. The primary goal in designing our bags was to have a product that would be durable enough to collapse into a small unit, multiple times so users could easily stow them while also finding the bags visually appealing. We are always interested in improving our product, so if you have a suggestion for an alternative we would love to talk to you about it.
Aside from the obvious use of a pouch, we chose the kangaroo as our mascot when we discovered some very interesting, environmentally-friendly facts about the beloved kangaroo:
- Despite having a herbivorous diet similar to ruminants such as cattle, which release large amounts of methane through exhalation and eructation, kangaroos release virtually none. The hydrogen byproduct is instead converted into acetate, which is then used to provide further energy. Scientists are interested in the possibility of transferring the bacteria responsible from kangaroos to cattle, since the greenhouse gas effect of methane is 23 times greater than that of carbon dioxide.
- The kangaroo is also one of the most efficient calorie burners on the planet, enabling it to travel far distances to find food and water.

No! Our photos are meant to demonstrate attributes of our product and contain a certain ‘cuteness’ factor, but we do not recommend anyone reenacting these images.
